Overview

Huge red letters emblazon the bow of this innovative vessel:  JUST MAKES SENSE.

Nothing could better summarize the groundbreaking design of this amazing yacht.

Yet Eric Bruneel’s (of Fountaine Pajot's design team) concept is simple: to offer the performance of a trimaran and the comfort and accommodation of a cruising catamaran.  The result is an interior with the volume and style of a New York loft that travels in double digits in the lightest of airs, and over 20kts when the wind picks up.   The platform is incredible, its area (more than 500 sq.ft) is impressive, and, once aboard, all you want to do is cast off... In the end, the Neel 50 is perhaps the multihull of the future.  In much the same way that hybrid automobiles have made an impact on our roads, this concept of putting cruising cat accomodations on top of a performance trimaran hull will surely begin a new lineage in the evolution of multihull design.

JUST MAKES SENSE has a cutting edge interior loaded with all the amenities for comfortable cruising and living aboard.  But despite all of its creature comforts, the NEEL 50 is a high performance vessel, paying tribute to Bruneel’s racing pedigree. It is resolutely designed for fast cruising,

The NEEL 50 is set up with the latest innovations developed by racing multihulls, such as square top mainsail, Vectran shrouds and forestay, reef hooks, and carbon rudder, to name but a few. Weight distribution is centered, limiting pitching. The sail area is wide with 170 square meters per ton. The trimaran is also fast under power. Indeed, the main hull’s prismatic coefficient offers a very low drag and the lateral floats only touch the water surface ever so lightly.

Safety wise,  JUST MAKES SENSE is virtually unsinkable, as her  PVC foam sandwich construction and the anti-collision partitions make the boat even lighter than water. The three fins protect the hulls, the rudder and the propeller while the mainhull fin enables the NEEL 50 to land on a ramp or a beach where the two lateral fins make it stable. The boat can therefore sail in shallow waters to explore, or to find protection in the event of inclement weather. With winches and stoppers for manoeuvring the sails fitted inside, the crew is protected in cases of strong wind and during night navigation.

JUST MAKES SENSE creates a buzz wherever she goes, and has just arrived on the side of the pond. If you are looking for a luxury multihull that raises the bar on the comfort/perfomance scale, you must see this yacht. THERE IS NO OTHER MULTIHULL LIKE IT

The 45' smaller sister to the Neel 50 was just recognized for its design innovation in Cruising World's Boat of the Year Competition.  JUST MAKES SENSE is larger, faster,  cruise equipped and  ready to sail away....all at a fantastic price.

Vessel Description

Even in person JUST MAKE SENSE gives the appearance of a computer generated image due to her futuristic lines and clean, uncluttered decks. With all sail control lines except the Genoa sheet led below deck, she presents endless space on deck, cabid top, and cockpit for lounging and enjoying sailing at exhilirating speed.

The helm is located to port forward in the cockpit and offers excellent visibility.

The cockpit has settees on both sides with storage under, two additonal large  storage lockers, and a central walkthrough to the swim platform on the stern.  Both the amas feature ingenious water toy "garages" for kayaks, surfboards, or dive gear aft and an amazing volume of storage space amidships to the bow.

Entering from the cockpit door,  the spacious interior is finished in contemporary materials, with striking colors enhancing the loft-like atmosphere.  Her incomparable beam provides more living space on one level than any other multihull of this size  on the market From the entrance, an island kitchen of varnished anthracite provides all the space and tools for serious food preparation with easy access to the cockpit  or dieette for serving. In the basement,a ladder leads to the storeroom where food and equipment is kept. On both sides, the two incredibly spacious oblong main cabins each have a bathroom and walk in shower The queens berths add incomparable comfort when out at sea for longer cruises. Walls are decorated with designer fabric in harmonies of beige-chocolate or anthracite and orange, creating a warm atmosphere. Floors are covered with a hard-wearing, high-tech polyester weaving n a charcoal grey colour. In the largesaloon, the floor is marked with thin stripes and a color contrast of orange, red and different shades of grey. In the forward section, the port dining room revolves around an uncluttered table. On starboard side, the chart table and a watch bench face the sea, while the dazzling red seats emphasis the floor and wall colour – also grey. Outboard of the settees on either side are single berths or additonal storage areas.  Forward in the main hull, a few steps lead to a third double cabin in which a lateral porthole overhangs the sea.

The "basement" runs almost the full length of the central hull,  and with full standing headroom  gives excellent access to the engines, steering gear, batteries, genset, watermaker, and mechanicals as well as providing ample space for provisions, tools,  and spares.

Like many other innovative creations, when you get the opportunity to view this vessel you will find yourself asking over ond over again, Why didn't someone think of this before?  IT JUST MAKES SENSE!
