Hake Yachts is one of the only builders in the US that produces high-quality and innovative retractable keel sailboats. With a flip of a switch, the keel can be raised vertically from 6'6" to a mere 20" for trailering or tying up to a shallow water dock. If a storm is approaching, no problem, just load the boat on her double axel trailer and get her out of harms way.

Under sail, Western Flyer is responsive and comfortable. Her innovative use of space allows plenty of room for friends and family, all in a yacht with a high-quality fit and finish.

Western Flyer recently had a survey completed that uncovered a 12 inch x 10 inch area below the starboard rub rail that indicated some internal fiberglass delamination. The area was part of a repair done by a professional boatyard in 2019 that was not completed properly. A copy of the survey report showing the area described in this listing is available to potential buyers.

In 2018 Western Flyer was in Port St. Joe Marina for Hurricane Michael. The boat was prepped for the storm, but sustained fiberglass damage to the lower lip of its stern and a 14" section of the starboard rub rail. No water entered the vessel. After the storm the boat brought to Panama City FL to be repaired as an insurance claim. After the vessel was repaired it was put on its trailer and brought back to Port St. Joe where it has been in covered storage awaiting the marina to reopen. The owner has been maintaining the vessel while in storage, and has been running the engine with a fresh water hose.

In March 2023 the seller had a suspicion that the repairs were not completed properly in 2019. The seller then hired a well respected marine surveyor to inspect the hull.

The surveyor identified a 12"x10" section of delamination on the starboard hull side under the area where the rub rail was repaired. The interior and exterior gelcoat show little to no signs of flexing or cracking, however percussion identified the area in question. The yard that repaired the rub rail in 2019 did not identify or correct the area of delamination, and has since gone out of business.

The surveyor also felt that the stern repairs needed some additional attention as well.

The surveyor does not believe these areas are structural in nature, but recommends that they be properly repaired. A copy of the hull survey is available to potential buyers.

Accomodations

The forward V-berth is roomy and comfortable and is fully air conditioned. Above the berth is a large opening hatch for natural ventilation. Walking aft, to port is a large head area. The head features a separate shower stall and plenty of storage. Moving aft there is a convertible bench seat to starboard and a large dinette to port. The dinette can seat four, and can be converted to a double berth with the included filler cushions. The salon is fully air conditioned. Aft of the dinette, there is a compact nav station with pop-up seating and a double quarter berth. To starboard is a well-equipped galley with expandable counter space, deep sink, storage and under counter refrigeration.

Galley

The Galley is massive for a trailerable 32' sailboat. There is plenty of space for food prep, doing dishes, and food storage.
