History
Professionally finished, RKalliste (originally named Katie (hull #190 1988)) was pro-ported to be the last centre cockpit Corbin sold from the factory in Gatineau Quebec before it closed it's doors. She was delivered to Fredricton New Brunswick where she was lovingly completed over the next 4 years by a retired pilot & avid sailor and his carpenter father (her teak & rattan interior is a true testament to his talent) She was launched in 1992 and then sailed from Canada to Bermuda, to South America, the Caribbean and then to Bahamas. She was sailed back and forth from North Carolina to the Bahamas until 2006 . The original owner feeling he was becoming too advanced in years to safely continue, had to make the tough decision to sell his pride and joy. She was sold and moved to Wisconsin where she was covered & the engine removed. Although the second owner had intentions of doing a complete refit it didn't happen and in November of 2011 the current owners discovered her. Careful inspection revealed a proven blue water vessel with very solid bones but in need of a facelift. The current owners arranged for a new engine to be installed and in June of 2012 had her trucked to Southern Ontario where she was stripped and professionally painted. Over the next 2 years she, (now renamed RKalliste' which means "our thing of beauty") underwent a complete refit. In September of 2014, with much fanfare from family and friends, RKalliste' began her 6 month journey from Lake Erie, through the U.S. to the Bahamas and back to Florida. Each year from 2015 to present she safely carried her current owners back and forth from Florida to Bahamas.
