Accommodations, Cabin
The Hinckley 49 is a comfortable center cockpit yacht with large amounts of storage. She has a V-berth
forward, followed by a head with shower next aft to port. The main salon has an L-shaped settee to port and
upholstered swivel chairs opposite. To starboard of the companionway is the navigation station and
the galley is to port (in the walkthrough area). The private owners cabin is aft with twin berths, private
head with separate shower and access to the owners's private aft cockpit.
Vessel Walkthrough
The forward cabin features a V-berth, overhead hatch for ventilation and light, mahogany battens and
outstanding varnished woodwork. The berth has bookshelves outboard port and starboard. Abundant
storage is provided by two banks of drawers, storage cabinets, and a hanging locker. The head is
next aft to port and is traditional with Hinckley trademark bank of six individual toiletry drawers, three
very deep storage cabinets, new Corian countertops with inset stainless steel sink and a Raritan head.
The main salon shows the elegance of outstanding varnished mahogany. It has warmth and comfort.
The salon features Novasuede upholstered L-shaped settee to port, two upholstered swivel
armchairs to starboard, and a mahogany dining table. The storage in the main salon, behind and
above the settee and in the bookcases to starboard is quite spacious.
To starboard of the center cockpit companionway is the navigation station with custom face panel,
three large chart drawers, bank of four drawers and a large storage compartment underneath. Aft of
the navigation area is the stand up engine room. The 110V shore
power panel is located here, as well as the starting batteries, switches, 10-gallon hot water heater,
bilge, shower, freshwater pumps, and manual bilge pump. There is also abundant tool storage and a
work counter with vise.
To port of the companionway is the walkthrough galley. This area has great counter space, large
double stainless steel sinks and spacious storage. The area that is designed for dish storage is
something you would not find on another boat. Again, there is a lot of Hinckley detail here. The top
opening refrigerator/freezer is stainless steel lined rebuilt in 1996 with Seafrost AC and engine driven
refrigerator and separate freezer.
Aft through the galley walkthrough is the private owners cabin and head. The head room is 6' 5''. This
area can also be entered by the aft cockpit and companionway, which is the perfect spot for morning
coffee. Two spacious single beds are on either side of the cabin, with drawers underneath. There are
also two hanging lockers, a bank of four deep drawers, and bookshelves/compartments outboard for
personal storage. The private en-suite head has the Hinckely toiletry drawers, deep storage area,
new Corian countertops with recessed stainless steel sink and Raritan head, and separate shower
stall.
