Overview

"Chez Nous," the ultimate cruising motorsailer, owned and outfitted by marine author Tom Neale, is for sale. Do not miss this opportunity to own this cared-for classic with ALL the modern upgrades!

Be sure to watch BOTH videos for shots of her underway, AND some great cruising tips from Tom & Mel Neale!

This vessel has been owned, cruised, and maintained to the highest standards for the past 18 years by marine author Tom Neale. She's been outfitted as the ultimate family cruising boat, with incredible attention to detail, and is ready to go. She was purchased as a live-aboard vessel for the author's family of four, and she fits this description perfectly. She is spacious and seaworthy, built with a solid and thick fiberglass hull of incredible strength. Many, many custom upgrades have been made. See the list! She has a shallow enough draft to get into the most remote parts of the Bahamas, and her mast is short enough for the ICW. But she's tough enough to be taken anywhere.

Among her many features are a 200 HP Yanmar diesel engine (new in 2007) with approx. 1000 hours on it, a 12 KW Kohler generator, 3 air conditioning units, refrigeration, a deep freezer, ice maker, three very spacious and private staterooms, two full heads with separate showers, an office with its own pure sine wave dedicated inverter, an entertainment center, a custom hydraulic dinghy lift and platform, electric winches, roller furling on main and jib, and a fully enclosed cockpit. "Chez Nous" is only of only 27 of these classics, built when they were built tough.

Accommodations

From the moment you enter the luxurious interior of "Chez Nous," you are transported back to a time when boat interiors were constructed of the finest wood and no detail was spared. She is a classic beauty inside and out, with modern features that make her comfortable for long-term living aboard.

Once down the companionway steps, the comfortable and large nav station sits to the starboard, and the galley to port. Forward of this is the main salon, a truly spacious and welcoming area for relaxing and entertaining guests. The large salon table seats 6, and the settee to starboard can seat 4 additional people. Forward of this, there are two staterooms--one with bunk beds to port, and a slightly larger traditional v-berth all the way forward. The forward head provides privacy for anyone staying in the forward staterooms, and is large with a separate shower.

The salon features Bose speakers and a full entertainment center that is built into the cabinetry. The wood paneling that is known to show water damage on some Gulfstars was replaced with white Star-Board in 2011 when the portholes were re-sealed, so there is no leaking and the white color adds an element of airiness and spaciousness.

The galley is equipped with an electric range and oven, double stainless sinks, a microwave, an icemaker, and ample storage, with a drop-in deep freezer and a standing refrigerator. The hallway leading back to the aft cabin is where the entrance to then engine room is--a full-sized door opening into an engine room that is a mechanic's dream--easy to work in and very roomy.

The aft cabin has a queen bed and a built-in office, as well as ample storage and a second private head with a full stand-alone shower. An extra porthole was added for ventilation.

3 different air conditioning units keep the boat cool at the dock or when running the generator, and opening hatches and portholes cool the interior at anchor.

Her interior is far more spacious than that of most vessels this size, yet there is no compromise in construction or exterior appearances. You have to see her to believe this!

On Deck

The cockpit of "Chez Nous" is an entire living space in itself. With a full enclosure, it can be climate-controlled, or the enclosure can be rolled up for enjoyment of the open air. A custom table can be fitted over the pedestal and helm, turning the cockpit into a second dining room!

6 to 8 adults can sit comfortably, and the cockpit is fully cushioned. There are also two large lazarette lockers in the cockpit for storage.

The decks are wide and easy to navigate, and the teak details are reminiscent of older yachts and classic appearances. Five large dock-boxes are mounted in various locations on deck, for storage of lines, diving gear, safety gear, etc.

A custom hydraulic tender lift and platform has been added onto the stern. It lifts a tender w/ 25 HP motor and owner and gas and supplies with push of button, and serves also as swim and/or dive platform in lowered position
