Descriptions

2004 Maxim Voyage 380
BLUE SHADOWS: A Performance Cruiser for the Modern VoyagerDesigned for performance and comfort, the BLUE SHADOWS is a cruising catamaran built for memorable voyages. The stern features a sturdy dinghy davit system, which effortlessly stores a 10-foot aluminum dinghy, and 25 hp outboard. A convenient walkway provides easy access to the water toys, along with ample storage space. An impressive solar array spans the hardtop-covered cockpit, where a removable canvas enclosure offers protection from the elements. Safe sail handling is ensured by all lines leading back to the helm on the starboard side, while a comfortable seating area and table are to port.
Below deck, the well-appointed galley to port and a navigation station to starboard provide all the comforts of home. Each bow features a single berth, with spacious double berths further aft in both hulls. The heads are conveniently located amidships, and two additional double berths are found in the aft sections. Ample storage is available throughout the yacht, and engine access is easy and uncluttered, making maintenance a breeze.
Seller Comment:After we had previously viewed a dozen other yachts, our broker suggested that we view this Maxim 380. We had never considered or heard of the manufacturer, so we took some time to research and the more we learned, the more excited we became to see it in person. When the day came, we instantly knew Blue Shadows was the one for us. We were drawn to the durability and hardiness of the South African construction. The roomy interior space has accommodated our 6-Foot 3-Inch-tall captain and that is no small feat. The convenience to maintenance, including the engine compartments, not only provide easy access but also safety in rolling seas. As comes with owning any new-to-you yacht, we were intimidated by what we were going to need to learn, but the simplicity of the systems on board have made it manageable and, daresay, enjoyable. We love to cook, so the 4-burner stove was also a major selling point. The galley up has served wonderfully for great family meals and entertaining guests. One of our fondest memories on Blue Shadows was a Fourth of July celebration when we hosted 3 other cruising families for a barbecue while watching the spectacular fireworks show over the Bridge of Lions in Saint Augustine.

Purchased Dyneema trampoline webbing from https://www.africancats.com/dyneema-trampoline-webbing. Once the trampoline materials were received from the Netherlands, we purchased 1/4" Dyneema to be used for the "frame"/mounting support system and proceeded with sizing, shaping, and cutting the trampoline material. Two strands of the 1/4" Dyneema were weaved through the webbing to create a robust mounting system. Purchased 3/8" Dyneema and all new D-sliders to connect the new trampolines to the hulls. Installed trampolines to the hulls using a special tensioning knot that also spreads the load across the attachment knot rather than a single point of wear. (Apr 2021)
