"Nimbus" Can Take You Anywhere

 

The Taswell 49 was designed by renown blue water yacht designer Bill Dixon, and was built by the legendary Ta Shing Yacht Yard in Taiwan.   Ta Shing is the same builder of Nordhavn, Mason, Toshiba, and many other well respected, heavily built brands.   Ta Shing is still building top of the line vessels to this day. 

Nimbus is especially striking with her black and gold Awlgrip hull paint.  Three staterooms, and two heads with separate shower stalls.  She's got a fin keel and a skeg hung rudder that allows for easy tacking and straight and steady tracking.   She is rigged as a cutter, making her very versatile and safe in adverse weather conditions.  The center cockpit is the most comfortable location to pilot from being the center axis of the vessel.  Her reverse transom with molded stairs makes boarding easy.  She has never had teak decks!

Nimbus is hull # 14, and she has been carefully upgraded over the years.  She is strong and safe, with a comfortable center cockpit and a wonderful aft deck.  Her salon and galley are perfectly arranged for cruising, and her massive aft stateroom with dedicated head and separate shower is luxurious.   There is plenty of room for a family and guests with two additional staterooms, and another full head with separate shower. 

In 2010 she was fitted with a NEW 63' ICW friendly mast with a state of the art Leisure Furl in-boom mainsail furling system powered by an electric winch.   Handling the full batten mainsail is simple, and can be done single handed.  She received all new standing rigging at that time as well.

Descriptions

Vessel Walk-through

Beginning forward is a private guest stateroom with a queen centerline berth.   To starboard is a hanging locker and drawers, and a bench seat is to port.  Lighting and ventilation are provided by an overhead hatch and three opening ports.  There is an adjoining head and separate stall shower to port.  Dedicated Webasto Reverse Cycle air keeps the cabin climate controlled.  

Moving aft there is another private guest stateroom with over/ under single bunks, and an additional entrance to the forward head to starboard. 

Central to the vessel is a spacious Main Cabin with dedicated air conditioning.  To starboard are two club chairs with a coffee table between, and to port is a U-shaped dinette with a cocktail sized table that can be converted to a large dining area with the easy addition of two leaves.  The extra table leaves can be stored in a dedicated locker near the nav station.   Port lights are amidships on both sides, along with two overhead hatches. Deck prisms help add addional natural lighting. 

Aft of the club chairs along the starboard side is the generous U-shaped galley.  At the forward end is a lit teak cabinet with curved double doors providing custom liquor and galley storage   Aft is a LPG range,  and a large in-counter refrigerator and separate freezer.  

Under the companionway stairs and running aft, is the engine compartment with access on three sides.

Aft of the dinette there is a passthrough to the master stateroom which is home to the navigation station with the ship's breaker panel as well as access to the engine room. 

The aft owners cabin is spacious, and easily accommodates the queen centerline berth and en-suite electric head and stall shower.  On the forward bulkhead is a large mirrored vanity and a swing-out seat.  Bench seats are located to each side of the berth.  There are hanging lockers and drawers for generous storage.  The aft cabin has six opening coachroof and hull ports, and a large deck hatch and two fixed ports.  Nimbus has abundant storage throughout all of her cabins, as expected for a semi custom cruising sailboat of her type.
