2021 Survey EvaluationOVERALL EVALUATION
The Ocean Alexander 426 is a well-crafted cruising yacht with full walk around decks, and a straightforward two-stateroom interior layout. For most of with her wide beam, the 426 is a roomy vessel, and her cutaway keel and the rudders and propellers well above the bottom of the keel, provide protection for the running gear in the event of a grounding. Her stylish profile is accented with a bridge overhang, and the 426 house is set forward on the foredeck in order to expand the salon and galley dimensions. The staterooms are arranged with a walk around queen island bed forward and with a second stateroom with twin single bunks. A lot of storage options in both staterooms. The large galley is forward and port in the salon, and a lower helm and deck sliding access door is a genuinely nice feature. The fiberglass ocean alexander boats feature impressive comfort and reliability for offshore and inland cruising. This cruising trawler vessel is constructed as per the USCG 33CFR requirements and NFPA, and ABYC standards and recommendations in effect today.
This vessel exemplifies style and form in a yacht that is a classic cruising hull. Addition many upgrades, new systems, meticulously cared for with redundant systems makes this yacht a real long-range cruiser and gives this yacht an "above average condition" equipped with more than adequate electronics and safety gear for coastal navigation and offshore cruising. The upholstery and finishes are clean & excellent condition. The interior of this vessel is clean well aired with no foul odors, outstanding hand-crafted cabinetry, and woodwork. With teak souls and solid doors in cabins and teak trim, the exterior decks, and hull surfaces are in excellent condition, with some small cosmetic deficiencies, overall, very well taken care of. The engine compartment and below decks are clean, neat, and orderly. This vessel has been serviced and competently maintained meticulously. The specifications of the engines and generator were within normal limits during the survey, some issues have been noted in this survey but do not affect the ability to use the vessel. The vessel is truly a cruise ready vessel without major repairs other than what was noted in the survey.
