MECHANICAL

Power

Twin Cummins 6BTA 5.9M2 giving 600 BHP at 2800 RPM. The engine is cooled via a closed loop free water/sea water system passing through a heat exchanger. A large sea water filter/strainer is fitted to each engine.

Transmission

MPM ZF Marine Gear with a 1.5-1 reduction. Propeller shafts are 1.75" diameter stainless steel and are supported by stern bearings and bronze struts. The stern bearing and heavily supported struts eliminate a tendency for shaft oscillation and at the same time provide extremely cool running temperatures for the bearings.

 Fuel Tanks

Marine grade aluminum with zinc chromate protection, including cross baffles and built in securing lugs.  Tanks are made in three pieces (One large center tank and two wing tanks).  The wing tanks are permanently coupled to the center tank.  The center tank contains port & starboard inspection covers at the forward end incorporating fuel pick-up and returninto each cover. The Starboard cover also contains a Manual dipstick as well as the electric fuel sender.  The port cover contains fuel pickup and return for the optionalgenerator.  Tanks are bolted down on rubber cushioning to molded bases.  Connections between the three tanks are made with 1.5" diameter diesel hose and each tank has an independent breather pipe or pipes.

Steering

Teleflex Hydraulic Steering with tilt wheel is used.  The steering wheel is 16" diameter.  Reservoir and pump are readily accessible in the lazaretto area. The rudders are a bronze casting.

Controls

Morse controls and cables are used throughout.

Electrical

Three (3) heavy duty deep cycle 800 crank hour batteries in fiberglass protected cases. Two battery selector switches are used. All outlets (l 10V) run throughout the cabins, as well as on the command bridge.  Twelve volt lighting also runs throughout the entire vessel.

FINISH

Exterior

Hull molded with white gel coat.  The deck is molded with white gel coat and light gray non-skid.  Exterior teak is coated with two coats of special wood finish (similar to varnish), Hull to deck joint is covered with a PVC rub rail and a protective stainless steel band.

Interior

Headliners are gray vinyl.  Bulkheads and partitions are mainly of teak veneer plywood.  The head is molded fiberglass for easy cleaning.  The galley and tabletop are Formica with teak trim. The interior teak has three coots of special sealer.
