1991 Prout 39 Escale
Boat Type: Catamaran Address: Titusville, FL, US Price: $124,900

Overview

Ajaya is a rare version of the sturdily built Prout EScale 39. Sailed across the Atlantic by her meticulous English owners, she has been loved and maintained to high standards. 2018 survey available. These boats are known to be incredibly seaworthy, as they were built to withstand heavy conditions. She is a solid, roomy, and pretty catamaran, much roomier than her smaller Prout cousins. Be sure to read the owners' note!

Descriptions

From the Owners

OWNERS COMMENTS:

AJAYA is a 1991 Prout Escale 39 built by Prout Catamarans UK and has been in our ownership for 15 years. We are the fourth and longest serving owners, buying her in Denia, Spain from an English family in 2004. She was laid-up ashore in the UK between 2004-2008. The extensive refit included professional installation of a later model entrance dome and recessed fixed saloon windows with interior carbon fibre reinforcement. The two forward double cabins were converted into one large spacious, airy master cabin. The hulls were also professionally sand blasted, epoxied with International Gel Shield and then Coppercoated. All the factory painted coachroof and hull striping was removed back to white gelcoat. AJAYA looks more akin to the later Prout 39 models she preceeded.

We left the UK in the autumn of 2008 and sailed AJAYA across the Atlantic in early 2009 after a three month stay in Lanzarote, Canary Islands. Since that time we've cruised the Caribbean both west and east and sailed her up to Washington DC and Maine. We've explored the Chesapeake, the ICW and as far south as the San Blas Islands, Panama. Laterly we've chosen to winter in the Bahamas. Living aboard full time for most of those years we have always strived to maintain AJAYA to a high standard. A NAMS Insurance survey was carried out in December 2018 when the boat was deamed to be in 'above average' condition.

Prout catamarans are world renowned for their structural integrity. The hull and deck are GRP bonded together forming an immensly strong monocoque catamaran capable of comfortable world cruising by minimal crew. Fourteen terminals from mast to deck mean this design also provides a safe proven dependable rig able to easily cope with the stresses of offshore sailing. All sail handling can be done from the safety of the cockpit.

We set ourselves a 10 year cruising plan and now sadly it's time for us to move on. AJAYA has many years of life ahead of her. We are hoping she'll find caring enthusiastic owners to take her on some new adventures.
